For the past weeks the American public has been confronted with young children taking part in heinous crimes in America. These crimes that these young children are participating in are taking lives of other young children.

One case that has been very much publicized in the media is the young 14-year-old boy who killed a six-year-old girl. According to his mother and his lawyer, the boy was imitating wrestling and it was an accident. He did not mean for this to happen.

Well, that’s nice and all, but that is not going to bring that little girl back or ease her parent’s suffering. Why is the only controversial topic in this case whether this boy should have been tried as an adult?

The law now is that if you are 13 years old, you can be tried as an adult.

Some people would argue that these kids were playing and that it just went too far. It does not take a genius to know when another person is in pain. At the age of four, children understand what pain is and what it looks like. This little girl suffered injures on the outside of her body and the inside of her body.

Some people think just because this boy is a kid, he should not be punished. He should just get a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again. This was an adult crime. This girl was hit and body-slammed repeatedly.

Boys and girls are different, so a boy should be taught not play roughly with a girl. It is a proven fact that women happen to be weaker in strength than men are. When boys are young, they are taught not to pick on girls and not to hit girls.

Yes, it is sad to hear that this boy will spend the rest of his life in jail and that he will not stand a chance in jail. Too bad. What chance was this little girl given? Her life is cut short due to this boy who was just out of control. To have to die that way, to be beaten to death, would be a terrible death.

Now there is the case in San Diego of a boy who killed students because they picked on him and stole his skateboard. So many people in this world have had something taken from them or been teased without turning around and killing someone.

So what gives this person the right to pick up a gun and blow someone’s head off? Then after the person is dead, the person expects to be a kid again?

No, you did an immoral adult thing, and now you must pay. No one said life was easy, and if someone is bothering you to the point where you think you must kill him or her, seek therapy.

Minors should be tried as adults to stress the point that if you do a crime, you are going to be punished, regardless of your age. By saying that minors should not be tried as adults, we are allowing minors to keep killing.

If juveniles were punished for their crimes but still given another chance, the system would be a lot better. In my opinion instead of making them sit in juvenile hall, they should set it up like high school and college. If they set them up to succeed they wouldn’t feel like they weren’t good enough to not commit crimes. Many children who commit crimes come from households, where they are set up to think they will fail. It is sad that others have to pay for the crimes they commit, but if they aren’t taught any different, how are they supposed to know.

why should minors be tried as an adult if they are simply not an adult

i just dont get this crazy states first they say we aren't adults
so we cant vote, smoke, or drink, but yet we could be tried as
an adult. that's some bs

i am 16 years old and im not against trying kids as an adult only
because im a minor but there are studies where it says that
minors brains arent as mature as an adult.......

i think you need to try and remember what it was like to be a child....

frankly, when a child is in the act of committing murder i doubt they are considering the possible legal ramifications of their actions, so trying them as adults does not serve as a deterant.

....there is a difference between revenge and justice, and many variables need to be considered if it is really justice you are after.

It's unfortunate that examples like these have to be set in order for us, as grown ups to take the issue of violence seriously. Kids have to understand at a young age that violence is detrimental for humans and society in every way. The only way they will learn that is we teach them. Now this young boy might have to pay for his "mistake" at a high price.

Quote from article; No, you did an immoral adult thing, and now you must pay. No one said life was easy, and if someone is bothering you to the point where you think you must kill him or her, seek therapy.

not all kids can get to therapy and there are many parents who aren't involved enough in their kids lives to realize when they need help..some don't even care and would refuse to help their child.

even still, that girl would have been crying her eyes out, begging him to stop. he would have felt her bones being crushed and there is no way he couldn't tell she was seriously injured. it's hard to believe a 7th grader could beat someone to death and not realize he was doing so...there is no way to "accidentally" beat someone to death...and it sounds like something a 7th grader would say to get out of trouble..i think he killed her in cold blood with no real or known motive..that makes him detrimental and dangerous to society...he deserves a severe punishment..but at the same time counseling to find the root cause of his actions. An attempt should be made to correct him...but i'd rather him be in an adult prison than back on the streets at the age of 25..scarred by his time in jail, with angrer and confusion, ready to murder again.

If this was Chuck Norris at the age of 14 no one would do anything because Chuck Norris would round-house kick you in the back of the face.

If a child commits such a terrible crime like killing a person, would you want them roaming your neighborhood at night when you are out on a stroll with your family? You will get attacked and die. You will die because you didn't want this kid to go to jail, and now he is free to kill you. Freee I tell you, free. Nice job.

I think that the this nation is the most racist nation on earth. There are little white kids that kill. maim, and murder on purpose and they get counseling. This kid did this on accident, and they want to give him life. It already horrible that he accidently killed his sister, but you idiot don't realize it is a double lose for the family. They lose their girl and their boy. But all you idiots see is lets get them. What if it was someone in your family? What if it was your little boy. Changes things huh. When it comes to black children everybody is like throw the book at them. Look at Jenna 6, look at all the crime white people get away with. And they scream to high heaven when any of us make a f*ckin mistake.

Im actually a 17 year old girl. I am so aginst trying teens or young kids as adults, and i am doing a report on this subject for school. Yes this kid is a boy but that dose not change any thaing he thought he was just playing. then it turned out all wrong. you have to think this boy did this on accident. He has to live with killing this girl for the rest of his life. NOw he has to live with it in jail; thinking about all the stuff that he had to look forward to in the rest of his life. Also kids that do somthing like stealing or somthing like that if the get tryed as an adult and get put in jail. these kids arnt going to come out of jail all good they are going to be around tuff criminals and they will pick up there bad habits. its a proven fact i have read around that kids that are tried as adults come out of jail worse then they go in....
not a complete right-wing nutjob

this is an entirely messed up situation, but no 14 year old boy should have to spend 50 years or so in an adult prison. yes, that's where they end up. he'll most likely spend the rest of his life abused or even killed at a young age. there are punishments that work better with the adolescents mind than taking away his life. theyre especially made for a young adults mind. im not condoning his behaivior but he shouldnt have his life taken away for that.
