Soul Survivor: The Dramatic Story of Green Beret Hank Delgado and the War in Vietnam
S 201 | 11 a.m.

The most famous of the Special Forces involved in the Vietnam War were the US Green Berets, their original mission being to wage guerilla warfare and organize resistance behind enemy lines. Most of the Green Berets that served in Vietnam belonged to the 5th Special Forces Group, who had their headquarters in Nha Trang. During the 1950s the Green Berets carried out many "Cold War" missions to resist the spread of communism around the world. They supported rebels fighting against communist governments in unfriendly countries and helped friendly countries battle communist insurgencies, but they were not well known outside of the military establishment because nearly all of their missions were secret.
In anticipation of Veteran's Day, History Professor John Haas of Cerritos College will sit down and talk with Hank Delgado has he journeys back in time and space to the harrowing time of the Vietnam War. For more information contact John Haas. (562) 860-2451 x2726
