September Independence Days Presentation by History Department's Prof. Walter Fernandez. Date: Tuesday, September 13, Time: 11AM-12:30PM, Location: LC 155 Teleconference Center Several countries in Latin America commemorate their independence in September: Belize, because it partly Hispanophone, Brazil Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Puerto Rico commemorates its September 1868 failed insurrection against Spain. Last year's discussion covered Chile. This year Fernandez will do a presentation focusing on the economic factors that led to the independence movements in Brazil and Mexico. All majors welcome!
