Basin City, or Sin City with the B and the A smeared off from city sign was a must see. And sin it is, this movie is Robert Rodriguez at his best with Frank Miller, the creator of Sin City, along with guest director, Quentin Tarantino. Frank Miller had rejected many offers to turn his graphic novel into a movie like the comic book movie craze that has blitzkrieged the film industry, Growing up on comics that should not be read by 12-year-olds, Sin City was a comic that I often purchased. The comic book craze has been making Stan Lee rich, but those movies like Dare Devil and the Hulk have seen low numbers from the over saturation of the comic book movies. Sure Spider Man and X-Men have done good numbers at the box office, but we need more comic book adaptations like Spawn and Sin City that are not weak like Marvel Comics. Sin City was the exception to all the comics that came out in the early 90's that put Marvel and DC on watch. A group of comic companies popped up showing no censorship like Image and of course Sin City. Sin City was the best comic book adaptation I've ever seen in my life. Forget all those other lame comic movies, Sin City is the flambé of these coward attempts. Sin City is based on three very graphic stories written by Frank Miller which intertwine and blend like Pulp Fiction. Rodriguez and Tarantino have worked together on such projects as Desperado and From Dusk Till Dawn. And Tarantino even directed one scene in Sin City for a $1 in exchange for Rodriguez composing the score of Kill Bill:Vol 2 for a $1 as well. Sin City is based on a savage comic book that evolves around three stories. One is rapped around Hartigan (Bruce Willis) who's heart is in the right place in a city of sin. Hartigan wants to save a girl from a pedophile who has political links. Then there is Marv (Mickey Rourke) , he is Sin Citys' thug that can handle anything. He is the kind of person one would not want to have a grudge against. And finally there is the story of prostitution ring that runs part of the city. Gail (Rosario Dawson) is the leader of the bloodthirsty crew of hookers. The gang of whores has vicious killers like Miho (Devon Aoki) who seems to be more bloodthirsty than a cannibal. Cannibalism, Elijah Wood played a very evil character that made my skin crawl who indulged in human meat. Wood has came a long way from playing "Frodo," in the Lord Of The Rings. In Sin City he plays a serial killer that has no emotions. He played the part like the seasoned actor he is. Benicio Del Toro, Bruce Willis, and Mickey Rourke all turned in Oscar performances, but they wont be recognized. The dialogue was kind of weak, but the movie's plot was exceptional. But what do you expect from a comic book writer; it is as good as it gets because I'm sick of these lame comic book movie's dialogue. One thing the movie did immaculate was present Frank Miller's dream of making the movie as close to the comic as possible. Considering that the last attempt was Dick Tracy Sin City blows Dick out of the water. The new graphics in Sin City utilized can compare to the Matrix revolution that shook the film industry. This movie is pure eye candy, and not just hot chicks flashing their breasts, this is a revolution in filmmaking
