7.18--Ronaghi--Auto Accidents

There was an accident that occured near the bridge on Old Meeinghouse road at 2 a.m on Tuesday.. Two cars were involved. Another accident happened on Monday and two Carolton residents were injured.

In the first accident, the first car was driven by Horace Gilmore, 45, of 335 W, Oregon, who was attempting to return to pavement when he collided with an approaching car.

The second vehicle in the accident was driven by Branson Potter, 52, of 506 S. Sherman, who was heading north on Old Meetinghouse Road.

The second accident occured at Lexington road and Scott St. involved two Carolton residents, Michael Blodgett, nine, of 215 S. Grant St., and Helen M. Hays, 70, of 109 East Ohio Ave.

Gilmore was taken to Carolton General and has fractures in his left arm and leg. The hospital said he is in critical condition.

Potter was also taken to Carolton General. He has abrasions and concusions. He is currently being held for observation.

Hays at first refused medical attention, but was eventually convinced to go to the hospital. She was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, treated, and released.

Sally Walker, the bicycle rider that was almost hit in the accident did not seem affected by her narrow escape from injury.

Walker told police Lt. James Smith "i'm alright."
