New characters introduced in ‘The House of Black and White’

The second episode of Game Of Thrones, titled “The House of Black and White,” is building up steam like a locomotive train.

Overall, the episode turned out better than last week’s premiere, despite how the show has been deviating from the books when it comes to Brienne’s storyline.

Not a lot happened in the first episode and it only served as a reminder for what happened last season.

This episode introduced new characters and interesting progressions of story lines.

Jon Snow denies the plea from Stannis Baratheon to retake Winterfell from Ramsay Bolton and becomes elected the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.

This episode introduced Ellaria Sand, one of my favorites of the Sand Snakes, and gave us the first look at Dorne.

Ellaria is demanding to get revenge for the death of her father, Oberyn Martell, but Prince Doran will have none of that.

Sansa Stark and Brienne of Tarth cross paths, which eventually leads to a high speed horse chase.

It was one of my least favorite parts of the show, because it felt like their meeting felt rushed.

Since last season the producers have changed Brienne’s storyline drastically when both The Hound and Brienne fought in an epic battle, but this time around, the meeting between Brienne and Sansa didn’t feel right for the show.

Arya arrives in Bravos and tries to make entry into the House of Black and White. After being denied entry by an old black man, she eventually got let in by the old man who she finds out is actually Jaqen H’ghar.

There was a little bit of Tyrion and Varys. Not much is going on there other than them still debating about joining the likes of the Khaleesi.

Dany was forced to kill one of the former slaves who killed a captive that was a part of the Sons of the Harpy.

Her rule is getting much harder with the two factions of former slaves and slave masters, but what was cool was that we got to see Drogon at the end.

Jamie Lannister sets on a quest to return Myrcella Lannister on the behest of Cersie. It will be interesting how House Martell will react to this and how it will play out.

Luis Guzman, Managing Multimedia Editor
Fall 2014 Hey guys and gals, my name is Luis Guzman. I am journalism student at Cerritos College, I’ve been going there for about three years now. I have been involved with Talon Marks, the newspaper for Cerritos College, for five semesters. I have done mostly everything there is to do in Talon Marks; covering breaking news, page design, video production, podcast production, and photography. I like to read in my off time, mostly books about science fiction and horror. I also like to write fiction of my own, mostly poetry and short fiction. The career I have in mind would involve anything that has to do with creative writing and maybe writing some articles for newspapers here and there.
