FSZ – What is your transportion to Cerritos College?
Perla Lara and Bianca Salgado
Karla Baeza, welding major, said, “I wished we had a parking structure on campus. It has been hot lately so with the structure it will be easier and cooler when parking. I drive to campus from Montebello. My commute is 25-30 minutes on average. I have a class that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 a.m. A Tap card won’t work for me because of my long commute.”
Jerry Reyes, graphic design major, said, “It is my first semester here at Cerritos [College] and before I was stressed. Stressed mainly to find where my classes were at; I take the bus to campus. Sometimes I take my bike too, but it takes long especially to come at 10 a.m. It really is a workout.”
Nicole Slocum, sociology major, said, “After my divorce, which was the first year without a vehicle, my kids and I were relying on rides and public transportation. I have not heard of the Tap card, but it would have been helpful. Right now its just gas money that is a bit of a struggle. Public transportation is not needed since my car makes commuting more convenient than before.”
Xavier Valencia, undecided major, said, “I take the bus from Downey. I have to get here to campus {in} an hour and a half earlier before my classes start just so I can be on time. It is probably 2-3 miles of a commute, but I have not had the time to get a Tap card, although the discount would be really helpful.”
Christina Saldana, sociology major, said, “I take the bus. Two buses, which usually takes an hour and 20 minutes. I reside in Bell Gardens, so it is a bit of a commute. I don’t have a Tap card, but the student discount would help out. Sometimes I am late to classes because the bus is late. So I have to leave two hours earlier from my house to get here.”
