Culinary Arts Café now open

The Culinary Arts Café opened its doors to students on Jan. 26.
Students gather in line as they get fine cuisine dishes for only a fraction of the price they would see somewhere else.
“I am happy that it’s really cheap. I thought the plates would be like 20 bucks. But, everything is under seven dollars,” said Alexandra Romo, nursing major.
Many of the dishes sold at the café, such as the grilled teriyaki salmon, beef and bok choy stir fry and Brazilian skirt steak, that would normally cost $12 to $15, only cost a fraction of the price.
Vicky Garcia, culinary arts major, said, “We also have a variety of foods. We sell foods from all over the world.”
Each day, the Culinary Arts Café has different themes, such Asian, Italian and Mexican.
There is something for everybody each day.
Mr. Pierini, the chef instructor, helps pick a different country theme along with the students.
“I make the decision based on cooking techniques,” Mr. Piernini explained.
The menu is separated into different parts for different class levels to do.
The beginning class does the breads while an intermediate group does the international cuisine.
Together, they create fine meals at an affordable price.
“Given all the (mediocre) fast foods around the Student Center, the culinary arts is closest thing to a gourmet cuisine on campus,” said Devon Lopez, psychology major.
If anyone would care try some the dishes at the café, it is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Center, Monday through Thursday.
Bon appetite.
