Kinesiology club logo contest gives back

Love for Cerritos College, teacher’s smiling faces and his friends’ helpful behavior were the main roles that played in the heart of the Kinesiology Club logo contest winner.

Howard Wei, graphic design major, was the winner for the Kinesiology club logo contest.

He was rewarded and also received $100 from the club. Sixteen contestants entered the contest with 42 entries.

Kinesiology Club adviser Debbie Jensen said, “Howard then surprised me and the club officers by returning the $100 back to the club as a donation for future use. Howard’s gift to the club was a demonstration of civility, which is precisely in line with the principles of our club.”

“‘Promoting healthy minds and bodies through movement’ was the main rule to utilize the club motto into the logo which Howard did.”

Howard submitted 10 separate entries so that he was able to capture what the club wanted to represent Kinesiology.

“The work was highly professional and creative, which attracted the eye of most of the members present,” Jensen said.

The Kinesiology Club awarded him a plaque for participating in the contest.

“I felt he was the right person to be the winner for the contest,” Jensen said.

Howard said, “I want to write a book about how to make paintings of artists and also make my own art show.”

Howard believed in teachers and followed the same direction they told him to do to achieve his aim, winning was the main idea in his mind every time he designed something.

“All the credit goes to my teacher, it’s due to them I was able to win the contest,” Howard said.

Not only this contest, but also he won few of the design contests before.

Jensen commented on the desire to have a logo from the student body of Cerritos.

“The club is really happy to have official logo finally,we decided that we would like to have the logo come from our own student body, so we designed the contest rules around that population,” Jensen said.
