Adhakal- women’s history month “mistress of spices” prievew (vic)

The 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day has arrived, and Cerritos College celebrated the month of Women’s history by showing a film in the Science building on March 8.

Niurka Medina-Valin, instructor of foreign language, showed the movie, “The Mistress of Spices.”

About 30 students were present during the showing.

Medina-Valin said she wished to see more Indian students participating in the future.

Adriana Garcia, landscape architecture said, “I am here for getting extra credit for my history class and I really liked the preview.”

Medina said, “Every year, we showed the powerful women of the society, their cultures and traditions, not only of one country but of different countries.

“The movie is awesome, it was actually directed from a novel, the way the character was presented in the novel completely matches in the movie and is full of emotions and power,”

“The movie is really great, Medina has being doing the review since every year at Cerritos during women’s history months,” History Professor Walter Fernandez said.

This time, the theme was different as they used Indian culture in which the women have similar value in Hispanic society.

“I enjoyed watching the movie and knew the foreign country’s tradition of life,” Joseph Garcia, undeclared major, said.

Medina also said that the students who were present in the preview liked it and gave a positive response.
