This year’s Video Music Award’s brought abrupt drama and top performances proving the VMA’s still holds the title of music “wildest” night.

The 2018 VMA’s was held at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Home to many stars like, Cards B, Jennifer Lopez, and Nicki Minaj, who all received top awards on Aug. 20.

Cardi B opened up the award show playing a trick to all viewers at home that she would “reveal” her baby daughter, Kulture, only to reveal a moon man award wrapped up in a blanket.

Followed by Cardi B, were presenters Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish.

Jennifer Lopez was honored her first award, the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, the highest award an artist can receive.

Her performance sure did make her hometown proud, performing hits like, “Jenny from the Block,” “On the Floor,” and “I’m Real,” with special guest Ja Rule.

Also, making a statement were her outfits, her first outfit being a blue and gold Versace gown, followed by a gold shimmer one-piece, and a gold tracksuit to close off her performance.

Lopez thanked her fans, team and loved ones for her success and proved dreams can come true with hard work and perseverance.

Also making news is Camila Cabello, who was nominated for five awards this year and successfully took two home.

Both being one of the top categories including, “Artist of the Year, ” and “Video of the Year,” for her hit-single “Havana.”

Before the night started, comedian Tiffany Haddish made a joke about Camila’s ex-bandmates from Fifth Harmony saying, “So those of you watching at home, hi Fifth Harmony.” Camila respectfully shook her head in disagreement toward the joke and was quickly defended by Nicki Minaj, who put the comedian in her place.

Cardi B made her imprint on the music industry and made sure to tell everyone she’s here to stay by winning the “Artist of the Year” award.

The rapper was filled with joy throughout the whole night and made sure to give fans her famous catchphrases during her acceptance speech.

Presenter Millie Bobby Brown even did her own impression of Cardi B, when giving her the moon man.

Singer Post Malone took home, “Song of the Year” for his song, “Rockstar” with 21 Savage.

Post Malone also decided to make a statement and bring out Aerosmith after his performance of “Rockstar,” to perform their hit songs, “Dream On” and “Toys In the Attic.”

One artist who did not win a moon man award this year, but made sure to deliver an emotional and powerful performance was rapper Logic, wearing a black tee that read, “F*** the Wall,” during his song, “One Day.”

The rapper even brought out parents to reunite with their children after being taken away due to immigration acts.

It is clear to say the 2018 VMA’s was everyone’s night. From powerful performances, fashion statements and drama the VMA’s will always live up to music “wildest” night.

It was clearly a tough competition due to all nominees being excellent artists, but overall it was nothing but love and appreciation for every artist.
