Julian Casablancas, lead singer of The Strokes released a new single Jan. 25.

“One Way Trigger” surprised fans with its unexpected release. Later in the month on Jan. 30 the band announced the release date for the entire album “Comedown Machine” which is due on March 26.

The anticipation is overwhelming. Anthropology major Briana Prieto states, “I am counting the days until this album is released.”

The Strokes, who fans expected to play at the music festival, Coachella, did not announce an appearance date for the weekend festivity it was a huge disappointment to fans since that could’ve been a huge advertisement for its upcoming album.

This is the Upper East Side band from New York’s fifth album and is expected to have huge sales and downloads on iTunes.

The new single released has a catchy tone and a very instrumental sound to it.

With a laid back beat to it you can imagine what type of album it will be. The name of the album and the sound of the song come off to be a very electrical type of atmosphere around the band’s typical upbeat style it has.

Rolling Stones rates this song with three out of five stars, it is a pretty good rating due to the fact that it’s simply a single and the album is yet to be released.

It’s a very catchy tune that can easily be related to Casablancas’ solo work throughout his career.

The Strokes who made it big in 2001 with the release of “This is it” has come a huge way since and is expected to keep writing music for many more years to come.

I rate this song three out of four stars due to the uniqueness of its quality and surprising beats. Nursing major Jimmy Castro predicts the album is going to be “epic.”

The Strokes are predicted to be going on tour shortly after the release of its new album.
