Daredevil is the greatest trick the devil has ever pulled.
Chock full of punches, jokes and nail biting moments, the Netflix original series Daredevil is not only one of the best shows to have premiered this year but is the best addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU as it is known) to date.
Part-of-five show exclusive deal with Marvel, Netflix made Daredevil as an attempt to spotlight heroes that focus more on muggers and burglars than alien invasions or magic villains.
Starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer who at night takes to the streets of Hell’s Kitchen in New York to fight crime as Daredevil.
Cox brings life and humour to both Murdock and his alter ego.
Witty banter is just as abundant in the daytime scenes as Murdock and his law partner Foggy Nelson, played by Elden Henson, prevent the show from becoming stale.
You don’t just think that the two are friends, you see it as they converse like actual people.
The fight scenes are always a joy to watch as well, though they can be too dimly lit at times, as the stunt choreography makes sure that Daredevil taking in as much as he dishes out.
The fight scene from the end of the second episode shows how brutal and realistic the show can be, with everyone growing increasingly tired as it goes on. This creates the perfect foil other heroes in the MCU who shrug off hits like nothing.
The real show stealer is Vincent D’Onofrio’s as Wilson Fisk better known as Kingpin, who brings the character to life straight from the pages. Methodical, strategic and alarmingly menacing, Fisk goes beyond just a mobster while his character grows. He doesn’t want power, he wants to push the city through a rebirth, the force needed to do so is just a cost.
Not every hero has a super serum running through their veins or a magic hammer to get the bad guys.
Fists, rage and a bit of luck are all Daredevil has and needs to bring justice to Hell’s Kitchen. If you haven’t binged watched this series yet, I highly recommend you do before the just announced second season begins production.
