The Used changes in ‘Artwork’

It’s been two years since the Used last released its third album, “Lies for Liars,” but this year, it introduces its new album “Artwork.”

“Artwork” is the fourth studio album by rock band, the Used, which just released the album in the US and UK Aug. 31.

Just listening to its new tunes, you can hear the difference from many of its past work due to the fact of the changes that it has gone through, management and the band.

Some of these changes in its new album music could be through the works of new management under producer Matt Squire.

It is also the first studio album by the Used to feature Dan Whitesides as the drummer since he joined the band in 2006.

In Alternative Press Magazine, Bert McCracken, the lead singer for the band, stated “In the past, we’ve always kind of brought pop sensibility into heavy rock, but this is going to be all that much more tantalizing and brutal. Our songs are 10 times messier and noisier than they’ve ever been.”

Before the album release, its music was already getting to its fan base.

At shows prior to the release of “Artwork,” the Used performed the new track “Blood on My Hands,” and was released on June 30 as a digital download. The song began airing on radio stations starting July 14.

On Aug. 25, the Used posted the entire album on its MySpace page.

The new album has a new static tone at the beginning of some of its songs, which caught  me off guard as I thought something was wrong with the songs.

What I liked from its new tracks is that most of them had a change in tone, as it increased and decreased.

“Meant to Die,” which is my favorite song from its new album, is based on the death of Heath Ledger. As I listened to the lyrics, I understood why.

The album contains 11 new tracks, which is already in stores such as Target with the price set at $9.98.

For those people used to buying their music on iTunes, you can buy the deluxe edition which contain four more tracks.

So if you’re either a fan of the band or just want to see what new music is out, you might want to check out the band’s page at http://theused.net/home or check out its new tunes at http://theused.net/home.
