The Golden Globe’s 2020: Nominees and Predictions

The 77th annual Golden Globe Awards is just around the corner and already the nominees have been decided.

This time the host of the awards show will be Ricky Gervais, an actor/comedian and writer who is best known for being one of the writers for the hit British comedy “The Office.”

There are a total of 14 categories for films with each of them having about five films in it.

To start off the list is the best motion picture film for drama. The nominees are “1917,” “Joker,” “The Irishman,” “Marriage Story” and “The Two Popes.” The film that is most likely to win this category would have to be “Joker” because the film was so different than another film that has been seen where we don’t follow a hero by a villain and its interesting to see the transformation of a normal guy and see how a bad day can change a person.

The nominations for best motion picture film for comedy/musical are “Jojo Rabbit,” “Dolemite Is My Name,” “Knives Out,” “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” and “Rocket Man.” The movie that has the best chance would be “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.” The reason as to why this will win is that it shows how everything was like back then when the film took place.

For best performance for a motion picture drama the nominees are Joaquin Phoenix, Christian Bale, Antonio Banderas, Adam Driver and Jonathan Pryce. The winner would have to be Joaquin Phoenix for his performance in “Joker.” The reason is that Joaquin did a fantastic job playing his character showing the struggles that Arthur was having in the film and helped pushed him into becoming the Joker.

The category best actress in a motion picture drama film nominations are Scarlett Johansson, Cynthia Erivo, Charlize Theron and Renee Zellweger. The category winner would go to Cyntia Erivo for her performance in “Harriet Tubman.” Because She have given a fantastic Performance on playing a historical figure and gave us a more look on Harriet as her struggles to save her people.

The actors nominated for best performance for a motion picture comedy/musical are Daniel Craig, Leonardo DiCaprio, Roman Griffin Davis, Taron Egerton and Eddie Murphy. The likely winner would be Leonardo DiCaprio. The reason is that Leo did great playing the part of a actor who has given up hope at first but quickly makes a comeback. With his character in “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” It shows that Leonardo has still got it.

For best actress in a comedy/musical motion picture the nominees are Ana De Armas, Awkwafina, Cate Blanchett, Beanie Feldstein and Margot Robbie. The actress that would win the award would be Margot Robbie for her performance in “Bombshell.” The reason is that Margot is a brilliant actress who was also in “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” and showed the calm and collected way that her characters is.

In the category best director the nominees for it are Quentin Tarantino, Bong Joon Ho, Sam Mendes, Martin Scorsee and Todd Phillips. For this it would have to come down between Todd Phillips and Quentin Tarantino. because Both directors gave us something that everyone would like for Todd Phillips with “Joker” and Tarantino with “Once upon a time in Hollywood” it gave us the both a look at actors during that time and also a bizarre crazy effect that Tarantino loves to do in his film.

Finally for best animated feature the categories are “Toy Story 4”, “Frozen II,” “Missing Link,” “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” and “Lion King” (2019). The animated feature award would be given to “Toy Story 4.” Because It was an emotionally film that was able to tie up woody’s character throughout the previous film and gave us a satisfying end to the franchise.

These are some of the categories that would be in the Golden Globe Awards, for 14 categories for film and 11 for television. The awards will take place on Jan. 5, 2020 in Beverly Hills.

Overall these nominations were solid every film deserves to be here with how good they must be and there weren’t any cuts to any films.
