The Los Angeles County Fair, held at The Fairplex in Pomona, offers a variety of entertainment all summer long, from Aug. 29 to Sept. 28, for residents all over Southern California.

The ongoing family-friendly event provides various forms of entertainment for people, such as carnival rides, food stands, deep-fried food, clothing shops, games, dancers, circus acts, tribute bands to legendary artists; such as Queen.

An end of summer concert series is also available inside the Fairplex to see notable artists such as Cheap Trick, The Manhattans, Heart, Ramon Ayala and LL Cool J.

Admission prices vary, according to weekdays and weekends. For adults (13+) the tickets are $12 on weekdays and $19 on weekends. Seniors (60+) are $10 on weekdays and $15 on weekends. Children tickets (ages six to 12) are $8 on weekdays and $12 on weekends. And for toddlers (ages five and under), admission is free.

An unlimited wristband for $50 is available for all day, as well.

Fair days are only available Wednesday to Sunday; weekdays starting at noon; weekends starting at 10 a.m.

“Luminasia,” a new exhibit at the LACF, shows the usual traditions of the crafts exhibition. It is a display of giant lanterns modeled on the annual lantern festival in Zigong, China, an ancient tradition in Chinese culture.

According to, Qing Hu, production manager of the lantern display, “Luminasia” is divided into three themes – China, a garden setting and Southern California.

Also, the fair provides entertainment, such as pirate-themed acrobatic and trapeze shows, a jungle-themed zoo, a barnyard, a professional fire juggler and other fun attractions.

One of the rare things the fair is doing is turning Fairplex’s vast Expo Hall 10 into a family-friendly nightclub; it’s called “Grinding Gears.”

Expo Hall 8, located at the Fairplex, as well, displays a comic book exhibit of superheroes, such as Spiderman, Batman and Superman. Its purpose is to educate kids about science and law enforcement.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, the LA County Fair will definitely be a fun day and night to remember and it is totally worth every dollar spent.
