One of this summer’s highly anticipated movie releases, “Crazy Rich Asians” became an important film to see, mainly for its praise as the first Hollywood studio movie in 25 years to feature and breakthrough representation of an all-Asian or Asian-American cast.

The last time Hollywood had an all-Asian cast was in Wayne Wang’s 1993 film, Joy Luck Club.

“Crazy Rich Asians” was insanely entertaining and humorous in which the actors did an amazing performance and were suitable for their character’s personalities and development throughout the film.

The visually stunning landscapes and the food of the country probably made everyone think twice on where to go for their next vacation.

The plot followed the traditional story line of a romantic comedy, which worked well by introducing different types of characters and most importantly giving the audience a something different to enjoy.

Many people can agree that romantic comedies are not how they used to be.

Many audiences can argue that they can be tired of seeing the same stories and characters in this type of film genre.

Today’s audiences want to see more diversity and representation of different type of communities in Hollywood.

This movie made a huge mainstream comeback for romantic comedies since the genre has been in short of decline in the past decade.

Hollywood seemed to finally notice how groundbreaking it is to feature more racial representation in their films.

Hollywood also seemed to realize the importance of these more of these films especially during these politically divided times.

It’s a film where everyone can sit back and enjoy a classical romantic comedy along by telling a story with a diffrent perspective.

This movie is relatable for everyone who enjoys the romantic comedy genre, but also for the community it represents in which has brought the best out of it.

It is truly a breath of fresh air to see something different and hopefully it gives a boost for other groups of communities to be represented,

“Crazy Rich Asians” is directed by Jon M. Chu and based on Kevin Kwan’s 2013 popular novel with the same name.

It tells the story of a young couple, Rachel Chu, played by Constance Wu, an economics professor at New York University and Nick Young played by Henry Golding.

Nick invites Rachel for a trip to Singapore for his best friend’s wedding and to meet his family after a year of dating in which she agrees.

On their way to Singapore, Rachel finds out that Nick is member of a massively rich Chinese-Singaporean family.

Throughout the story, Rachel learns how to navigate Nick’s family and social classes while trying to maintain a normal relationship with her boyfriend.

Everyone should spare time and go watch this film to not only to support the film, but to see something different and perhaps develop a new guilty pleasure.
