11 years and 22 movies later, Marvel has delivered the three-hour Cinematic event of every Marvel fan’s life. The end date to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the day Marvel’s Endgame was released was on April 26.

Keeping a promise to Anthony and Joseph Russo, this will be a spoiler free review. For those who have not seen the film, you aren’t ready.

“Avengers: Endgame” now holds the record for biggest opening in the movies first weekend, making $1.2 billion in sales worldwide, which is no surprise.

Marvel fans scrambled to buy their movie tickets the second they dropped on Fandango, hoping to score tickets for the first showings theaters provided. Several AMC locations opened for 72 hours straight to attempt to meet the demand for opening weekend screenings.

Movie theaters were a sea of people in Marvel t-shirts, some fans are even dressed in cosplay for the release of the film, and there was a buzz in the air of predictions of what will happen in the movie based on knowledge of the comics and questions that are still left unanswered.

Marvel’s “Endgame” takes place post-Thanos’ snap to a world that feels very dystopian. The Avengers are unable to locate Thanos and everyone is left to attempt to cope with all they have lost.

The film has a slow start, but for the sole purpose of making connections and answering all the burning questions, they have left Marvel fans with for years. Characters are reintroduced and you get a glimpse of what life is like after Thanos.

All this set up is 100 percent worth hit in the end. In the words of Robert Downey Jr., “The last eight minutes of ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ are ‘maybe the best eight minutes in the entire history of the whole run of them.'”

“Them” being all the MCU movies in existence.

The film was a real tear jerker for several reasons, it was so beyond satisfying to see the complete story till the end for some of our most beloved characters and also just truly heartbreaking to have to face some character’s untimely death.

In the usual Marvel fashion, the film had a comedic side to it. Characters post snap have truly let themselves go, and other characters have made peace with themselves in an emotional and physical way.

If you have seen the film you know exactly who these characters are.

Female Marvel heroes also had their own truly inspiring moment to follow up their three minute moments during the final battle in Marvel’s “Infinity War.”

“Endgame” focuses in on the original six Avengers: Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye, which is a great way for the universe to come to a proper close.

Everything comes full circle.

“Endgame’s” ending is the bread and butter of the entire MCU, it is worth the three hour set up and the 22 year wait. It is the most heart-stopping scene to experience in a movie theater.

The crowd was cheering, clapping and crying.

Fans like Elani Venegas, described their movie experience as, “A finale for an entire generation. For die-hard Marvel Fanatics, there were tears throughout the film. Whether they were tears from laughter, joy or sadness.”

Avengers Endgame marked the end of our current Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it is not the end.

Look for Spider-Man: Far From Home, in theaters this July.
