Weekly Geek Oct. 22 |Star Wars Edition

Transcripts:

Grester: My name is Grester Celis-Acosta and I’m here with Sebastian.

Sebastian: Hey.

Grester: Carlos?

Carlos: How’s it going?

Grester: And welcome to this edition of The Weekly Geek!

Sebastian: It’s back.

Grester: Yup, its been gone for a while, we tried to go video, but it didn’t work out. We’re here we’re back, we’re going to try to keep the show going.

Sebastian: All right, what are we geeking out on?

Grester: We’re going to talk about mostly Star Wars related content.

Sebastian: Yes.

Grester: This week, the last trailer for the force awakens got released.

Carlos: It came out on the internet?

Sebastian: Yeah, as soon as I saw that it was three minutes not 60 seconds, I was like yes!

Grester: Yeah like, so we’re just going to talk about this. So what was your initial reaction?

Sebastian: Carlos?

Carlos: Well I’m not so much a hardcore fan.

Grester: What?

Carlos: Like I really know the characters and when I heard of the release of a new upcoming episode I was like, “Whoa okay,” I’ll give it a shot. I really like the prequels, but in this one I really like John Boyega, the guy who is playing Finn, I really have a expectations from him. Like his look he it’s something that is really going to make me him one of my favorite actors. I like the new droid.

Sebastian: R8?

Grester: Asteroid droid

Sebastian: RB8.

Carlos: Pretty much, I don’t want to say that it’s going to be a reboot of Star Wars to make it more to bring it back to this generation. And I think its really doing a good job you know, I expect a lot from the movie.

Sebastian: Right, kind of like to touch on what Carlos said, the actor who is playing Finn, he looks very passionate already in the trailers, they all do, even the female actor. I don’t have her name in me right now, but she looks like she like an outsider role at the moment. She looks like she’s playing this outsider role and she looks like she’s playing it well. Of course, the movie will show us more of that backstory of who she is and what not.

Carlos: One of the cool things, is the Stormtrooper the evolution of him. Looks very fresh and we look back at the rebels and they look a little bit the same from the old movies.

Grester: Yeah they do.

Carlos: that’s what they seem like

Grester: Apparently, they have like new X-Wings, but for the most part they look the same. The new TIE fighters, I don’t know if you saw it at the beginning of the trailer there, but we believe that some how it is Finn who is there that crash landed on Jaku

Sebastian: It has like a red tint to it.

Grester: Yeah, it’s still the same TIE fighter, but it has a different look.

Sebastian: Yeah, the rebels like what’s up with their tech? Are they advancing because the stormtroopers even have new blaster weapons that I saw have a white tint to it to so that’s probably an update. I feel like there is moments well it shows the X-Wing fighter and I feel like the pilot uniform kind of changed maybe the helmet, but like the ground troops, they all look the same. From what I can see.

Grester: What do you guys think about Kilo Ren? He, so far, has been like the guy who I’m most excited to see in the movie because he just looks like Darth Vader, but that I don’t know there’s something about him.

Sebastian: He’s a try-hard.

Grester: It’s more like there’s something mysterious about him. I just want to know more. What’s his backstory? Why did he do this?

Carlos: I don’t want to be a troll but what still concerns me is the sword design. I mean I just don’t want to come in on that. But yeah it’s pretty appealing like the design of the mask like it has that breathing affect it brings back that Darth Vader.

Sebastian: I remember why Darth Vader had a breathing affect because Anakin’s lungs where like burned so.

Grester: Spoiler Alert!

Sebastian: I’m sorry but if you haven’t seen Star Wars all of Star Wars. But when did episode three come out like in 2000?

Grester: I don’t even know, I think it was ‘09.

Sebastian: Yeah.

Grester: It was a long time ago.

Sebastian: Well if you haven’t seen it there we go I’m sorry. But if you listen to weekly geek though you probably know there’s a lot of spoilers.

Carlos: I think it was 2005 maybe.

Sebastian: Right, but whatever the case maybe, he has that breathing thing because of his problem that’s Darth Vader and now Kilo Ren right?

Grester: I don’t know if he has a breathing thing, but he certainly has that.

Sebastian: When he is standing at the command deck of the ship and there’s like a red glow in the back and the camera is zooming in quickly. If you notice the back of his helmet it gives off that Darth Vader shape also, so I guess this is the new generation of Star Wars.

Grester: But in one of the scenes he doesn’t have his helmet, you see his full on hair fighting Finn in the new trailer.

Sebastian: Was that his hair or the hoodie?

Grester: No that was his hair.

Sebatian: So it’s just a frontal mask, its not a helmet.

Grester: I think its just the helmet, but I don’t think he has the same breathing problems that Darth Vader had.

Sebatian: Do you think whoever put the trailer together put the breathing thing so it kind of give that affect oh so your suppose to be like the new Darth Vader

Grester: I don’t know if he has a breathing thing, but he does have a deep voice, I thinks its just to like make him sound, give him the evil effect because most supervillains have a deep voice.

Sebastian: Die.

Grester: Yeah they don’t have a squeaky voice so, but yeah Kilo Ren, the guy who I’m most excited to see in the movie. So this has been another episode of the Weekly Geek.
