There is a great opportunity to pick up unique pottery, paintings and literature from distant lands, while support the diversity on campus.

The Cultural Affairs Club is holding a fund raiser in the liberal lobby this Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be arts, crafts, and books for sale at a variety of prices. Donations are also welcome.

The money raised will fund field trips and other club expenses.

Gayle Parks, club president, is very enthusiastic about Cerritos College students getting in touch with the diversity on campus.

She said, “We have so many separate clubs on campus, and I thought it would be good to combine all of the students into one club where they can share with each other.”

When asked if she thought the students on our campus segregated themselves from one another, she answered, ” No, I think we all work together. It’s just that we need to do a lot more of it.

“It is important to learn about our neighbors so that we can understand different customs, and then we are not critical of each other when we come together.”

Parks has learned that as our community becomes more diverse, it is helpful to know about the people who surround and interact with you.
