A small army of his peers surprised Cerritos College baseball coach Ken Gaylord during Wednesday’s practice when it invaded the baseball field with an impromptu celebration of his recent 300th win as head coach of the team.
In the last game of the regular season, the Falcons beat East L.A. College, 15-6, which gave Gaylord his 300th win as head baseball coach at Cerritos in a period of 10 years.
Head football and golf coach Frank Mazzotta said, “Most people don’t realize that in 10 years he’s won more games than Kincaid did. That’s around 30 wins a year.”
Wally Kincaid coached Cerritos’ baseball team from 1958 to 1980. In that 22-year period he amassed 678 total wins.
