Cerritos beats Bakersfield

College Cerritos football team upsets the number one rated team in the state Bakerfields. The Falcons won the game by the score of 21-19. The falcons will play at College of the Canyons next Saturday.

In the first quarter running back Sammy Moore ran in a 50-yard touchdown to give the Renegades a 0-7 lead. In second quarter the falcon linebacker John Lopez recovered a fumble on the 11-yard line of the Renegades. The same quarter falcon quarterback Mike Harrison threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Chris Chatman making the score 6-7.

In that same quarter Falcon kicker Adam Sonntag missed the extra point. In the second quarter Harrison and Chatman hooked-up again on a 37-yard touchdown pass making the score 12-7. The Falcons missed the two-point try.

In the third quarter Harrison ran in a 10-yard touchdown making the score 18-7. The Falcons missed the two-point try. In the fourth quarter Renegade quarterback Kevin Bryan made the score 18-13 on 16-yard touchdown run.

They had missed the two-point try. In the fourth quarter Renegade safety James McGill recovered a fumble and ran it in a touchdown, which give the Renegades an 18-19 lead. In that same quarter Falcon kick Adam made a field goal to give the Falcons a 21-19 lead. Falcon linebacker Philip Perry blocked the Renegades field goal to close out the game.

Falcon wide receiver Chris Chatman said that the defense and special teams came up big in the game. “The offense could done better. Our quarterback needs to get the pressure off him. I think we look good for next game.”

Falcon coach Frank Mazzotta said that team played good and that they just to overcome first mistakes.

Falcon running back Josh Herrera said, “We were slow in the first half.” He said that the offense we make more big plays. “The defense step-up big time.”
