Men’s soccer team splits games

Angel Valdez and Angel Piazzi scored goals for Cerritos (4-4-1), but host Pasadena beat the Falcons, 6-2 Tuesday in men’s soccer.

Valdez scored on a free kick, and Piazzi scored with an assist from Nestor Elias.

The Falcons host San Bernardino Valley College Friday at 4 p.m.

Falcons leash Huskies

Thanks to their biggest offensive outburst since the 1999 season, the Falcons surged past visiting East Los Angeles, 5-3 Friday.

Falcon defender Julio Maldonado said, “It was a hard game, but we controlled the game and won. The changes that the coach made were good.”

Coach Juan Torres said, “Once we got into the second half the (performance) level increased.

“We hope to maintain this kind of level through the end of the season.”
