BOB VERDERBER
BOB VERDERBER

Incumbent Bob Verderber has served on the Cerritos College Board of Trustees since 1993.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Cleveland State University and a master of science degree in industrial engineering from the University of Southern California.

He has had a long and distinguished career in the engineering field, working for Northrop Corporation, North American Aviation Beckman Instruments, General Motors Corporation, and the Chief Accounting Office for Los Angeles County.

Verderber, a Downey resident, submitted the following prepared statement to the Talon Marks for publication.

“Bob Verderber is currently vice president of the Cerritos College Board of Trustees. He is seeking a third term for this office. He considers himself to be a dedicated and resourceful leader with a proven record of community service.

“Bob wants to do a better job promoting Cerritos College and its many services and to raise awareness of this valuable asset within our community.

“He wants to extend and expand industry and business partnerships that have provided Cerritos College with national recognition for its programs in nursing, teacher training and vocational technology.

“During Bob’s years on the Cerritos College board college budgets were always balanced, prudent financial reserves were always maintained and new taxes were never requested of the public. Some of these years were difficult financial times for the college. It now appears that these ‘bad’ times are about to be repeated. Regardless, Bob firmly states the Cerritos College board will continue to practice fiscal responsibility as it has in the past.

“Bob Verderber is a retired mechanical engineer. He recently returned to work as a middle-school algebra teacher to help out with the shortage of mathematics instructors.”
