Three Falcons ejected in loss

Three Falcon men’s soccer players were ejected in a 5-1 loss to Compton Tuesday at Cerritos.

The players who were red-carded were forwards Jorge Vargas, Angel Piazzi and Nestor Elias, who scored the Falcons’ goal on a penalty kick.

The Falcons (6-7-4, 1-2-3 in SCC) will have their last road game Friday at Long Beach City College at 2 p.m.

Tie with Harbor

“Cerritos is capable of (winning a) championship,” were the words of Falcon forward Angel Piazzi on Friday’s men’s soccer game against L.A. Harbor College.

The Falcons demonstrated that they play hard until the last whistle of the game.

With only seconds left in the game, Piazzi scored the goal to make the final score 3-3.

Piazzi, who scored two goals, said, “It was a very difficult game, we couldn’t leave with our arms crossed.

“Harbor is one of our rivals.”

The other Cerritos goal was scored by Elias.

Falcons’ goalkeeper Marco Lopez made an outstanding save when the Seahawks had their last shot on goal.

Late Goal Gains Tie

Cerritos midfielder Josue Perez scored in the 88th minute of play at El Camino College Tuesday to give the men’s soccer team a 1-1 tie with the Warriors.

Perez scored on a free kick in the 88th minute, in what could have been the Falcons’ last chance to score in that game.

El Camino took the lead in the second half, but the Falcons showed no mercy and ended up scoring with three minutes left in the game.

Salvador Sahagun, mid-fielder for the Falcons, said, “It was a tough game, we could have won, but atleast we got the tie on a free kick.”
