ASCC awards students for service

Cerritos College president Dr. Jane Harmon was given a special honor by the Associated Students of Cerritos College Friday at the conclusion of the Fall 2001 Awards Banquet in the Student Center.

Harmon was honored for her support and guidance to the ASCC her first semester as president.

The ceremony, which takes place at the end of each semester, honors students and organizations for their service to Cerritos College and the surrounding communities.

ASCC president, Nassrin Bonyadloo said to those in attendance, “This is a very special night for many of our outstanding students who have volunteered numerous hours of their time in social, cultural, educational, recreational, and leadership programs sponsored by the Associated Students.”

The evening began with a dinner prepared by the Culinary Arts department, while the group Vocal Works provided the entertainment with its re-creation of a 1940’s radio broadcast.

Then the awards were presented.

The first awards presented were the ASCC scholarships, which are awarded to students for leadership and academic excellence.
