Future Teachers

Do you know the rewards of teaching? The Future Teacherís Club provides information on teaching and opportunities for students to receive funds to help pay for their education and living expenses.

Cerritos College is known for its excellent teaching programs through Teacher TRAC. This club also helps future teachers get on the right track ñ by offering friendly support and showing how to tap into available funds.

Isela Sahagun, the club secretary, loves to work with children, which is why she believes that teaching is the right profession for her. “It’s a great feeling to inspire children,” she said.

Shannon Leahey-Ladwig, president, said that members receive information on how to get funding for their classes, housing and other needs ñ even a down payment on a home.

The Future Teacher’s Club is open to all who are interested in or just curious about teaching. This year the club plans on dedicating more time to community service, so all members are very welcome.

Those interested in membership must attend one of two meetings being held Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The location of the meeting is yet to be determined.

The club meets every other week for 30 minutes. For more information, contact the Cerritos College Teacher TRAC department.
