The crime-fighting trio of Natalie Cook (Cameron Diaz), Dylan Sanders (Drew Barrymore) and Alex Munday (Lucy Liu) returned this weekend with the sequel to the prosperous Charlie’s Angels.
Although the dialogue may not be the most interesting or the plot the most original, the visual effects and action sequences make the movie worth two hours of your time.
With a new Bosley, played by Bernie Mac, and a supporting role by Demi Moore. Full Throttle is an adventure-suspense-comedy rolled into one.
With the disappearance of two silver rings that hold confidential information on citizens who have been placed into the Federal Witness Protection Program, the team goes on the hunt to retrieve the rings before they fall into the wrong hands.
Along the way Dylan (Barrymore) is forced to face her dark past, the past that includes a bitter, incarcerated ex-boyfriend Seamus O’Grady (Justin Theroux) she testified against in his murder case.
The Angels’ investigation eventually leads them to Madison Lee (Demi Moore), a former “angel” who has since gone bad.
With new personalities, outfits and hairdos at every scene the viewer can’t help but wait anxiously to see what is going to happen next.
A number of cameo appearances are made by household names like Bruce Willis, Carrie Fisher, the Olson twins, Eve, Pink and Big Boy of Power 106 FM radio fame.
McG, who has also directed a number of music videos and commercials, brings his flashy expertise to the film. There isn’t a scene that occurs without the accompaniment of perfectly matched music to emphasize the action sequences.
Although some of the action sequences are similar to those of the infamous “Matrix” movies, they have a bit of a feminine style to them.
Throughout the fight scenes the women endure lots of abuse but no visual signs of injury are seen. But after all they Angels have to look their absolute best at all times.
As long as you understand the movie was created for visual fantasy and not reality then you’ll enjoy the movie as much as I did.
The sequel is one that boasts more of the same sex appeal and girl power as the first.
Oh, and don’t forget to stick around until the end of the movie for the hilarious outtakes.
