Cerritos hosts job fair for inquisitive students

Approximately 70 employers from Southern California were in attendance during the Cerritos College’s 37th annual Career Expo and Job Fair on Wednesday in the Student Center with more than 1,000 students in attendance.

Among the 70 employers in attendance were:

? Bally Total Fitness ? California Highway Patrol? Disney College Program ? Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department? Mary Kay Cosmetics

Students such as Kelly Banks, business major, said that she wasn’t there to look for a job for herself.

“I am looking to help find a job for my cousin.”

She added that she has two jobs already and to take a third job, and go to school at the same time would be ludicrous.

Elizabeth Arce, criminal justice major, said that what was of interested was the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department and other law enforcement like the LAPD.

“I have had an interest in law enforcement for the last three or four years.”

Christine The, career services specialist said, that like the Mega Mixer held on Tuesday, the turnout was equally successful.

Hoping to draw interest in the Disney College Program was Disney recruiter John Stephenson

Last December he came to speak to students about the program and expressed that what he enjoyed the most was the students.

“Students I have talked to are familiar with the Disney product,” he commented, “and they want to be part of the magic.”

There is a presentation on the Disney College this week at 3 p.m. in Classroom Building 106 and said it will give student insight into the excitement and fun of Disneyland.
