Detours, they are what the students see around Cerritos College when walking on campus to go to their classes and even looking for a parking space at the lot.
There is so much connstruction going on at Cerritos College that it is hard to ignore.
The three major construction sites are:
- the new classroom building next to the Physical Science building,
- the demolition of the Research and Development building to make way for the Auto Technology expansion and
- the underground piping between the Learning Resource Center and Admissions office.
The new Classroom Building will house labs and offices for physical science and therapists.
The C-6 lot will be completely blocked beginning Feb. 2009, to finish building it. Students will have to find parking elsewhere.
Robert Riffle, director of physical plant at Cerritos College, said that the demolition of the Research and Development building will be done wthin two weeks, but the expansion of the Auto Technology will start on April.
The Research and Development classrooms were moved to the Technology Building.
Cerritos College is doing all of this impovement with money from the GO bond. The construction management company is Bovis Lend Lease.
Jerry Jones of Bovis Lend Lease, said that by Spring 2009 there should not be any more blocking on campus.
