Solicitors to stay on campus

For years, Cerritos College has had solicitors on campus, trying to sell students products or have them sign up for different things.

Many students are now realizing that many of these solicitors are scamming them.

ASCC President Michael Barrita explained that he and many other students are unhappy with their presence on campus, because of their dishonest nature.

“Some students want to get rid of creditors and solicitors altogether.” Barrita explained.

Giovanni Castanon, undecided major, said, “The solicitors are kind of annoying, I mean can’t they think of a better place to go than college; we’re all broke.”

Students are advised to call the campus police if they feel that the solicitor is being dishonest or feel that they are doing something wrong.

On the contrary, a lot of students do not mind the solicitors’ presence.

Brian Wilson, undeclared major, expressed, “It doesn’t bother me for them to be on campus. I like to see the different opportunities that are available for students.”

Wilson said that he had even once signed up for a Disney internship but never went through with it.

Other students just do not feel that they make any impact on the campus.

Ashley Marroquin said, ” I don’t mind them, but I’m really not interested in any of the stuff they offer.”

There are no set plans to remove the solicitors from campus, yet many students do want them gone.
