Universities come for mini fair

The University Mini Fair was held in front of the library sidewalk from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 14.

“Our purpose of being out here today is to provoke transferring to a four-year institution,” said Darlene Mims, Cal Poly Pomona representative.

Along with the other representatives, Mims had information about the majors that her school has to offer, admissions requirements and housing.

Mims stated, “We provide information that a student will need to know.”

However, there are other schools like Argosy University that came to the fair so that it could get its name out to the students.

“We are just trying to get our name out there,” said Argosy University Representative Erika Vogt, “We’re a small private school in Orange County in Costa Mesa.”

“I came here to speak with the students and let them know about our school and what we have to offer. Also to get a feel and see who is a good fit and to set up interview,” said Westwood College representative Angelique Jackson.

Jackson came to the mini fair prepared to talk to students with brochures that talk about all the programs that the campus has to offer as well as the different institutes located throughout southern California.

If students want more information and missed the mini fair, they can always stop by the transfer canter.

“They have our calendar for the month which shows the various four-year institutions that come on a regular basis,” Mims said.

Mims continued, “If students miss this fair, they can always look forward for the next one, probably during the summer.”
