After defeating El Camino College with a 54-51 win, the Cerritos Womens Basketball coach, Karen Welliver earned a place in history with the most career wins in California Community College Women’s Basketball history.
After 27 seasons, Welliver now has 564 career wins under her belt, pushing her past previous record holder Tom Martinez, who had 563 wins at San Mateo College.
Welliver is only the second women’s basketball coach at Cerritos, and already she has led the Falcons to nine South Coast Conference championships and six appearances in the state championship tournament.
