University fair less than a month

The majority of the students at Cerritos College hope to transfer to a four-year university or college to pursue a higher level of education. The Transfer Center at Cerritos College is available to assist students with the transferring process.

Among the different services it offers, the Transfer Center will be holding a Mini University Fair, which will be held April 13 from 10am-1 pm along the library sidewalk.

The mini-fair will have about 20 or so representatives from a variety of California public and private colleges and universities.

There will be representatives from schools such as CSU Long Beach, CSU Dominguez Hills, CSU Fullerton, CSU Los Angeles CSU Poly Pomona and UCLA.

There will also be representatives from private universities and colleges including National University, Concordia University, La Sierra University, Vanguard University, Chapman- Argosy School of Business and Economics, and Columbia College Hollywood.

The representatives will be there to answer students’ basic inquiries about their school; how one can apply for admission, the majors available at the school, and of course, financial aid. If students are serious about attending the school, the representative might be able to refer them to another delegate at the college or university.

Carlos Madrez, Liberal Arts major stated “The mini fair might be a good chance to make a choice about the school you want to transfer to, there are going to be lots of different schools to answer questions. They’re here to help, so why not take advantage of the service? It could be really helpful.”

If you aren’t able to attend the mini fair, the Transfer Center has the ability to help students make individual appointments with a representative of the school of choice.

The Transfer Center also holds workshops such as the Assist Workshop, which is for students planning to transfer to a CSU or UC. The Transfer Basics workshop reviews the admission requirements for CSUs, UCs, and private institutions.

Contact the Transfer Center for more information about mini fair and the services provided at (562) 860-2451 x2126.
