Career reps help students at expo

Cerritos College held its spring career expo and job fair on March 23 to help students.

Anne Wong, AHMC Healthcare Inc. representative was helping students by getting them in the volunteer services.

“Our volunteer service is great to get the volunteer hours they need and I know sometimes for school they need to volunteer,” Wong stated.

“It’s also a great way to see the hospital without having to go to school for it,” Wong continued, “and to see if it’s something they would want to do.”

However, if students have completed the volunteer hours and are looking for a job they can always turn in their application and they will be considered for the position when something opens up.

Wells Fargo representative, Natalie Rivera was helping students by sharing the opened available position.

“We are currently hiring for Phone Banker #1 position and they type of customer service required for the job can be at any type of customer service, it doesn’t necessarily have to be at banking,” Rivera said.

Rivera also explained what type of a job they would be applying for.

Rivera stated, “they will be housed in one of our in-house bank centers where they will be taking 80-100 calls a day and will be assisting Wells Fargo customers.”

Southern California Rehabilitation Services Benefits counselor, Jose Solorzano explained how the company is designed to assist people that are disabled.

“If you are disabled they have to go to the department of rehabilitation which is a state program designed for individuals who have disability,” Solorzano said.

Solorzano continued, “what that does is that it pays for schooling or vocational training and once they get certified they’re sent to job helper.”

“As soon as they finish high school they take them in and help them by asking what they want to do,” he said, “students looking for a job I can send them to certain areas throughout the department and they can apply there.”

Avon representative, Chiqui Parayno said, “we’re offering this opportunity where they can make extra income by selling products to their friends, families and neighbors.”

“All they have to do is sign up, there is an application fee of $10, we have a short orientation and so they will learn more about how to get started,” Parayno stated.

Representatives can make their orders online and then will be shipped to the representatives address then can collect the payments when they deliver the orders to their customers.

“You get paid as soon as you collect the payments from your customers,” Parayno said.

She said, “it’s your own business and you are your own boss so students can sign up right now, all I need is the $10 and give you’re the orientation which usually takes 45 minutes.”

Maria Pacheco, Avon representative said, “I take ceramics and I just sell it there, so it’s easy money and I like the discount.”
