Choosing a major workshop
The choosing a major workshop was presented by Faculty Senate Secretary and Career Service Counselor Traci Ukita and was sponsored by Re-entry speciality. The workshop was on September 30 in the physical science building, was successful in drawing a large number of students compared to last workshop, which was done on September 23 in business education building.
“We announced the workshop in the daily Falcon, we did many class announcements, distribute fliers, and many teachers gave extra credit work for attending the workshop, which we think made students come to this workshop,” says Shannon Estrada re-entry resources specialist.
Almost 30 students attended the workshop, they knew about the workshop through teachers, fliers, newsletter, and friends.
“I didn’t know about the previous workshop, but this one was told by my teacher and it’s also extra credit work, so I came in,” says undecided major Jessika Quinoga.
“Evening time is kind of hard for me, so I thought of coming to the morning workshop,” says Jamie Alvarado, criminal justice major.
German Bravo Villasenor physics major said ” My anthropology teacher told us about the workshop, I am a decided major, but I want to get more information about my major and it was really good one; it solved my problems and answered my every question.”
The main purpose of the workshop was same as the one before; it was just a review of the last workshop, in which many students said that they were unknown about the previous workshop, and those who knew about it could not come because it was in evening, which was hard to manage for them
