Homecoming court narrows down to seven

Listen to Arts Editor Andrea Mora interview Martha Hernandez.

Seven girls are running to become Cerritos College Homecoming Queen: Isaura Quintero, Crystina Leyva, Teresa Gonzalez, Erica Casarez, Raquel Ramirez, Arielle Pavone, and Briana Koeppe.

The candidates were presented to Cerritos College student body during the homecoming kick-off that took place on last week in the student center.

Marta Hernandez, commissioner of the Student Center, talked about the reason for the school to have homecoming, “It is to show students on campus that we have school spirit.

“We want to get them motivated and more interested in coming to school,” she adds.

Candidate number two, Leyva, also has a similar outlook for homecoming she said, “I feel like we [students] just come to school and leave. We don’t do anything or don’t meet new people, but if the school gets students involved they can truly benefit from that.”

Homecoming is a two-week event that is filled with opportunities for student involvement.

Upcoming homecoming events are float building week that starts this week and runs until Friday.

The homecoming game that takes place Saturday along with the announcement of the queen and preceding the game will bet the homecoming dance.
