Every semester the pound by pound program that began two years ago on Sept. 2009 in” Cerritos College has been attracting students’   from all ethnicity and background with one goal in mind which is to loose weight,” said Nancy Montgomery Student Health Service Coordinator and director of the pound by pound program.

Montgomery explains to students the program and purpose, as she gives an orientation on Wednesday 5 p.m to Cerritos College students that are interested on the class.

She also explains to students that the fitness class is going to help Cerritos enrollees teach them how to watch their calories to help them get definition and slim down as long they follow the program.

Montgomery also said that the fitness class philosophy is to live and eat healthy and that’s one of the reason the program is available.

During the orientation Nancy mention to the interested students that the class starts Jan. 25 with the first session beginning at 7 a.m and the second one starting at 5 p.m and she also said that the class semester will probably end around May, 20.

As she was giving the introduction about the class to the students that are interested Montgomery introduced to the Cerritos students one of her co-worker Mary Jean Christian, R.D a register dietitian, that will be helping the class during the program to lower their cholesterol and also helping them get the proper diet with the right calories they need every day.

Christian explain to the students about healthy eating and how to make better choices by helping them know how to read food labels and showing them good low calories recipe.

 She also said, ” I will be the one that you want to talk if you’re thinking about getting a proper diet and if you want me to see if you lost weight.”

After the orientation Christian also said, ” If the students want to see me they will be required to schedule with me before I see them. And this program has to do a lot with every individual putting every effort they have if they are thinking to loose weight when this class starts.”

One of Cerritos College students that joined the pound by pound program is Eric Tathami, criminal justice major said,”I am happy that the program started because I could start working out and begin getting ready for football season in the fall.”

He also said that it is, his first time enrolling in the pound by pound program and he is ready for what the class has to afford.
