TODAY IS AUGUST 31, 2011. WELCOME TO TALON MARK’S ‘CAMPUS NEWS HOUR’ BRINGING YOU CERRITOS COLLEGE NEWS AND INFORMATION CAPUS WIDE.

CERRITOS COLLEGE IS ADDING MATH AND ENGLISH CLASSES THE SECOND HALF OF THE FALL SEMESTER. CAMPUS NEWS HOUR ASKS BOTH STUDENTS AND FACULTY IF THEY BELIEVE THEY’LL BENEFIT FROM THESE ADDITIONS.

CNH VISITS THE FIRST ‘INTER CLUB COUNCIL’ MEETING OF THE FALL SEMESTER. STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE VARIOUS CLUBS ON CAMPUS HAVE COME TOGETHER AT THE ICC MEETING TO WORK TOGETHER ON DIFFERENT IDEAS THAT WILL BENEFIT EACH OTHER.

CERRITOS COLLEGE IS INTRODUCING ‘ZUMBA FITNESS’ CLASSES AS AN EVOLUTION OF THE ‘POUND BY POUND’ PROGRAM. ‘ZUMBA’ COMBINES AEROBIC AND DANCE MANEUVERS WHICH INCLUDE; HIP-HOP, SALSA, MAMBO AND ELEMENTS OF MARTIAL ARTS. CAMPUS NEWS HOUR SPEAKS WITH DEAN OF STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES NANCY MONTGOMERY TO FIND OUT WHEN AND WHERE THESE CLASSES WILL BEGIN. ANTHONY HODGE REPORTING.

STUDENTS CAN LOOK FORWARD TO A NEW AND IMPROVED ‘TALON MARKS’ ONLINE EDITION WITH ADDITION OF THE POWERFUL NEW COMPUTER PROGRAM ‘ELINGTON.’ JOURNALISM STUDENTS WILL BE USING THE STATE OF THE ART SOFTWARE TO BE BETTER PREPARED FOR THE TRANSITION INTO THE PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISM WORLD.

RANKING SIXTH IN THE CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES FOOTBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION, THE CERRITOS COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAM SEES A SEASON OF BOTH GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY THIS SEMESTER.

WITH NO APPARENT VIOLATIONS OF STATE OR FEDERAL LAW, THE REMOVAL OF TWO EMERGENCY DOORS FROM CLASSROOMS IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCE BUILDING IS, ACCORDING TO SOME STUDENTS, LEAVING SOME STUDENTS AND FACULTY FEELING LESS SAFE.
