Former Cerritos College part-time instructor and Judge dies at 90

Former part-time Cerritos College professor, Judge Joseph A. Farina, father of accounting professor Michael Farina, died on Sept. 22. He was 90 years old.

The cause of his death has not been reported.

A funeral service was held on Sept. 30 at Crossline Community Church at Laguna Hills, Calif.

Cerritos College President Linda Lacy sent an e-mail to faculty on Sept 27.

According to the e-mail, Farina practiced law in Bellflower before receiving his appointment to the bench.

The e-mail also stated that while he practice law, Farina was a part-time professor at Compton College (now named El Camino College Compton Center) and Cerritos College.

Farina served as a Municipal Court Judge for the Los Cerritos Court for 16 years before retiring in 1996.

Farina is survived by his wife, Martha, his children, Michael Farina, Teresa Loge and Samuel Farina, his five grandchildren and his sister, Pat Farina.
