Alondra Boulevard closed between Freeway Drive and Marquardt Avenue

The California Department of Transportation had scheduled construction to begin on Monday, Jan. 7 through mid 2015 that will close down Alondra Boulevard both directions between Freeway Drive and Marquardt Avenue as part of the Santa Ana Freeway or I-5 High Occupancy Vehicle Widening and Alondra Boulevard Bridge Project.

The construction has now been postponed, and will start at a later date according to Caltrans’ blogspot website.

Maria Raptis of Caltrans said that the construction may begin mid to late February.

As part of the construction, the northbound I-5 on-ramp at Alondra Boulevard will be closed while a temporary northbound I-5 on-ramp at Freeway Drive will be constructed during the next six months. The ramp will be available to motorists by early July 2013. After the temporary ramp is completed, it will be used for two years until the new permanent on-ramp is completed.

Motorcyclists will have access to northbound I-5 by going through the on-ramp at Carmenita Road.

Others are encouraged to use suggested detours on Valley View Avenue, Artesia Boulevard and Carmenita Road.

According to the Caltrans District 7 website http://i-5info.com, the cost of the project is $110 million.
