Workshop teaches students how to get paid internship

Claudia Biezonsky guided students to what should be one of the main goals during or after college, a paid internship.

Biezonsky hosted the workshop to inform students how to land a paid internship on Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Social Science room 140 and about 10 students attended the workshop.

She works for a company called Inroads, which helps students land paid internships with companies that will help students develop qualities such as leadership and teamwork.

“It is the oldest non-profit leadership development organization in the nation,” Biezonsky said.

There are well known companies that are partnered up Inroads such as Target, AT&T, Chevron, Verizon and JC Penny.

In order to qualify for the program students must be a full time student, have at least one summer left towards undergrad degree, a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

The student must also be a business, STEM or liberal arts major.

The company also has monthly coaching calls to make sure the students are doing well at the job sites and are still maintaining a 3.0 GPA in school.

Stacy Pocas attended the workshop and is a second year student at Cerritos College.

She said, “I am going to apply and see what happens.”

She added with interest, “I want to look into Kaiser.”

Inroads has 28 offices nationwide and has helped over 2000 interns.
