Cheerleaders or strippers, you decide

Cheerleaders+or+strippers%2C+you+decide
Michael Oh

Cheerleaders. Loud cheerleaders. Annoying, loud cheerleaders. Skimpy, annoying, loud, cheerleaders.

I went to the football game last Saturday and found myself utterly annoyed by the cheerleaders.

As soon as I saw them I was like, “Oh my God.”

I thought to myself, “What the hell are they wearing.”

Then I answered my own question, “Nothing.”

You would think that as the years pass by cheerleaders would get better at, well, cheerleading, but no.

Instead, they are getting better at explicitly showing off their body and hardly doing any cheerleading, if any at all.

It’s baffling when you go to a football game, or any game for that matter, and find yourself stopping dead on your tracks with jaws wide open over something that has nothing to do with the game at all.

Don’t get me wrong.

I have nothing against the cheerleaders.

Hell, I wanted to try out for cheerleading.

I was the captain of my drill and cheerleading squad a few years ago.

It’s the way they display themselves that truly disturbs me.

Small skirts and short shirts that could easily be mistaken for bras with added long sleeves is what they wear.

Some of the women had spandex shorts longer than the actual skirt.

The whole point of the under shorts is for them to be kept under the skirt, not on top of it.
And the shirts? Come on, really?

I don’t even think they should be called shirts.

There should be a term for something as revealing as that.

The closest thing I could think of really is: a bra.

Some of the other women would raise their arms to cheer and would show the lower portion of their bra.

We don’t need to see that.

Most people don’t go to football games to watch a whole bunch of half-naked cheerleaders.

Seriously, what’s the point? What’s their point?

What are they trying to prove? That they are attractive?

What are they trying to achieve out of wearing something like that?
What are they trying to get out of wearing pretty much nothing?

If they wanted to show off their bodies to more than half of the world, they might as well be strippers.

Then at least they would be doing what they want to do and be getting paid for it.

The cheerleaders would be getting something for wearing nothing.

As she was passing by me, I heard one of the cheerleaders say, “My skirt is not short enough.”

I think from that point on I was just disgusted.

Hey, if you’ve got a nice body, show it off.

Just don’t display yourself in the wrong way.

Don’t come off as an easy, skimpy cheerleader.

I told my friend what I had heard and he said, “Yeah. I agree with them.”

Then he laughed.

I guess that’s what they are looking for.

They want attention from guys, or any attention at all.

Maybe they get satisfaction out of knowing or thinking that guys actually find them appealing.

Honestly, if you feel you need to show off your legs and stomach to feel comforted, then you really have reached a low level of self-esteem.

Don’t be so damn insecure.

Don’t think you need to show your body off to get noticed or get any sort of respect.

Respect yourself and give yourself some real value.

If you’re a cheerleader, cheer your butt off, but don’t show your butt off.

Because seriously, by wearing what you are wearing, you are just asking to get laid.
