Don’t fight over lovers

"Girlfriends never go out with their friends exes. That's the biggest no-no," Audrina Patridge said on an episode of MTV's "The Hills."

The controversy between best friends and exes has been one of the biggest factors that cause unnecessary drama and break up long time friendships.

When it really comes down to it, and they go through "it" they seem to forget their motto.

I really think it is selfish and hypocritical to fight with a friend over an ex, especially after the one fighting is the one that broke up the relationship.

Instead of fighting and losing two friendships, because really the ex is going to choose the new relationship over the person fighting and causing drama, it should be a time of happiness and approval.

Think about it this way, the one fighting is basically acting as Cupid.

He or she shouldn't be mad, or pissed off, he or she should be extremely happy, especially for his or her friend's happiness.

Many people have gone through an experience like this one.

Some have chosen the unfortunate loss and others have chosen happiness.

I don't understand why the whole so-called rule is still a big deal.

Seriously, if someone can't be mature enough to let a relationship unfold between his ex and his friend, it's obvious that there are still feelings.

To some extent, the person may be selfish.

I've been on both sides of the quarter where I've started dated my best friend's junior high ex and so-called "boo" and it didn't turn out well because of the so-called rule.

I also found that my "boo" is going out with one of my longest-time friends.

I always thought that somehow, my "boo" and I would end up together.

It hurt when I found out but before I said anything, I thought about it and decided that it was time to let go.

Now we all hang out, and it's great having both of them in my life.

I couldn't possibly live with out either of them.

Think about it, be mature about this and don't let a silly "rule" ruin your friendships and cause drama.
