Video games have lost their way

As a gamer, I have to say video games nowadays have really lost their touch.

I remember when I would be parked in front of the TV for hours playing “Mario Party” or “Super Mario Bros,” now I play “Halo” for about 20 minutes and get bored and shut off my system and won’t play for a week.

What happened?

Games just aren’t what they used to be.

What was the key necessity that gave the old games the pizaz that would keep people hooked on it for days and days without end.

Old games that were good were on the SNES, N64, and even Playstation like “Donkey Kong,” “GoldenEye,” and “Crash Bandicoot,” games with levels and bosses, not the meaningless killing rampage games.

These put me to sleep.

The old games also had built-in memory so you can save on the cartridge, not have to go out and buy a memory card, and other unneccesary things.

Without them, you would have to start over from the beginning unless you play throughout the whole game in one sitting, which is what I used to do

The new systems are fixing that with “built-in flash drives.”

Just because the graphics are better does not mean that the game play will be better.

Graphics should be the least of the issues of a game.

Old graphics were so lousy but those were what made the game entertaining because it was what drew the attention to the cartoon that you could control.

They even had parts that went through walls because they were so lousy.

But why not come up with an interesting storyline, how about that?

The Playstation 3 and X-Box 360 have too much expectations to play it, like a high definition TV and so much junk that it makes it too complicated.

But I, myself, own an X-Box 360, but have yet to find a game to occupy my time. I have found a couple for the regular X-Box.

Popular games nowadays are “Halo,” “Rock Band,” “Gears of War,” and “Grand Theft Auto.”

What is the point of these games?

I’ve played a majority of them and wasn’t really entertained.

Popular games in the old days were “Sonic the Hedgehog,” “Super Mario Bros,” “PacMan,” and “Tetris.”

I still play all of these games to this day, and honestly I can play for hours on end, hunched over the computer.

Some of the old games have been converted into playable versions for the new systems, which is a big “no.”

The new systems change too much and make it much less fun.

Games were meant to be something that could not possibly happen but you could do it anyways because that’s what they’re for.

They are not to play in a war and kill people. If you want to do that go join the army.

I want these excessively violent games to end, and want the old games with jumping on mushrooms and evil man-eating flowers to come back, before games are dead forever to the classical gamer like me.
