With so many budget cuts coming left and right and students losing the chance to obtain educational opportunities, now more than ever does the next ASCC president need to show a firm hand in decisions that will be made.

Though his power may be limited, his will to fight and persistency to take a stand for student rights is not.

What he must make as priority, above anything else, is to stop the useless spending of the money the ASCC has.

With it struggling to provide more iFALCON scholarships, instead of wasting money in new carpeting for the Student Activities office, it should use those hundreds of dollars in the scholarships it is trying so hard to offer.

The next thing the next ASCC president must enforce upon himself is to improve the communication and his relationship with the students of Cerritos College.

After all, everything he will be doing will hopefully be for their benefit.

Students need to be aware of what is going on on campus, as well as the issues that are currently being discussed and what the president’s position is on these issues.

The president must establish this communication in order to prevent future misunderstandings or conflicts with students.

Lastly, he must hold up to the promises he makes. If one cannot execute the promises one makes, then one must learn to keep his mouth shut.

This way, students are not overwhelmed with disappointment when he does not live up to what was expected and only professesed empty promises.

The next ASCC president has a lot of work to do and after being elected by the students, it is obvious that they believed he was the right person for the job.

Stop the useless spending, establish a better communication and do not boast empty promises.
