Remember the past, Black History Month

Black history month has been celebrated on February since 1926. It’s a month where black leaders and a culture that has come a long way in less than a century are recognized.

Not enough emphasis is placed on this month though. Black history month doesn’t get enough media recognition and there isn’t enough promotion or importance placed on the happening events through out the month.

The remembrance first started in 1926 and was established by Carter G. Woodson. Woodson wanted remembrance for the biggest Diaspora in history, the African Diaspora.

The culture has come a long way and African American’s achievements need to be celebrated bigger. They are probably the group of people that were treated the worst, and they have truly come a long way.

Their achievements are an example of true will power not just a group of people but humanity has learned and achieved a lot from the mistreatments that African Americans suffered.

Black History Month, needs more media attention and more passion not only should Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks be remembered and recognized, but also present leaders that achieved their goals like The Obamas, The Robinson’s, the CEO’s of multi-million companies such as Shawn Corey Carter of Rock-A-Fella and Sean John Combs of Bad Boy Co.

Every racial group should learn and celebrate Black History Month and follow in their steps get a Dream and fulfill it.
