Fair take on sports

The popularity of men’s sports isn’t equivalent to the popularity of women’s sport and that is maybe why covering either is different. Men’s sport are more popular, so covering the story is more important.

From the beginning, sports hero’s were considered to be men, that maybe because the origin of many sports was linked to war and about a 100 years ago, sportsmen were considered to be like soldiers and that was an activity unrelated to women.

Things have changed since then and women sports has came along way, but until this day, women’s sports isn’t spread across the world as much as men’s sport is.

The life of women’s sports is much shorter than that of men’s sport; although, most people might not think so.

Sexism is apart of why one is more popular than the other. Women were considered too weak and fragile to be soldiers and to be a soldier you needed to fit the profile.

There is an image on what a soldier or a sports person should look like and what gender they should be. Because sports are considered to be a rough games, they related that to soldiers and declared sports as a man’s game.

For many years, men have dominated the sporting world and though things have improved for women in the field of sports, they have not been demolished.

Men and women are closer to equality, but are not quite there yet. Men’s sport isn’t more popular because of talent one has over the other and it isn’t because the quality of one gender possesses better quality than the other. It’s because one gender is still favored over the other and that is the social norm whether people mean to be sexists or not.

Many people follow social norms whether they realize in it or not. It’s like loving a song because everyone else does or liking an outfit because it’s in style. Some people lead and the rest follow and no matter how extreme the situation is, people are blinded by many false ideals and beliefs.

People often avoid the truth because the truth is hurtful and demeaning, but the truth here is that women have just as much potential to be great in sports as men. The only difference between women and men’s sport is gender and that’s what makes one more popular than the other.

It is also what makes covering men’s sport more important than covering women’s sport.
