President threatens first amendment

Less than a month ago, President Donald Trump blasted NFL players who disrespected our flag by kneeling during the national anthem as a protest against police brutality.

President Trump tweeted up a storm while Puerto Rico was devastated by a hurricane.

The president even gave an example of how to properly protest during the national anthem by tweeting, “Standing with locked arms is good, kneeling is not acceptable.”

He also explained to us that the “issue of kneeling has nothing to do with race. It is about respect for our Country, Flag, and National Anthem.”

President Trump has praised our vets and current soldiers for fighting and protecting our flag, not mentioning what the flag and national anthem symbolize.

But during an interview in the Oval Office, President Trump questioned the First Amendment by asking when would it be appropriate to question their [NBC] licensing.

Out of every other un-American thing the President has done, attacking the first amendment has to be the worst.

No matter where you stand as an American, whether a democrat, religious or a strong advocate for the second amendment, supporting the first amendment is something every American should back up.

Although not technically protected by the first amendment when he tweets, President Trump exercises free speech 24/7 on Twitter whether its political or he’s lying about something.

Every American should shame him for thinking its okay to threaten the license, which the government doesn’t offer, of a news broadcasting station.

Trump supporters that defend his questioning of NBC are also un-American, let alone a threat to a diverse country as the US.

Any American that truly wants their country to be the greatest it can be, would aid its own people when they cry for help.

Flint, Michigan has been without clean water for some time now.

NFL players are disrespecting our flag as a protest against police brutality and instead of trying to work with them our president tweets at a golf course.

Parts of the country are in ruins and the person in the Oval Office does not care.

Trump has divided the country so deeply that when tragedy happens, no matter how devastating, Trump supporters will not sympathize because their president does not sympathize.

On Oct. 11 Trump tweeted, “In even the darkest moments, the light of our people has shown through their goodness, their courage and their love.”

This dark moment began when he announced he was running for presidency.

To the white supremacists: your actions have caused our present times to be a mirror of history, do you remember how the civil war ended?
