What America Can Learn From John McCain

Arizona senator and Republican congressman John McCain died at age 81 after fighting an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Despite of battling a terminal illness and tortured for almost six years as a war prisoner in Vietnam, senator McCain demonstrated to the world the dedication he had for serving his country no matter the conditions he went through.

The American people can learn from his death that it doesn’t matter the state of health you’re in and that it is not an excuse for serving or not serving this nation.

His actions and dedication while disabled is what speaks for itself.

Senator McCain lead by example in a way that not many of today’s politicians follow by.

Today’s politicians seem to care about the number of votes and donor money than actually doing their job of serving the American people.

There are not many great politicians at this moment that are taking the lead to stand up for what is important to take action on.

In today’s political climate, most politicians have become almost difficult to work with over many of the issues that the country is currently facing.

Without leaders with a strong commitment to this country how is this nation going to move forward?

This affects us all as a nation and we cannot move on without working together in order to progress forward.

It is important to acknowledge the leadership that senator McCain has demonstrated throughout the years while working for public office.

Many Americans considered him as a war hero after he came home in crutches and physically broken.

However after all he suffered through, he continued to serve his country through politics.

Not everyone had positive thoughts about McCain and the legacy he had built.

President Trump has made negative and disrespectful comments towards McCain in the last few years.

“He’s a war hero because he was captured.” Trump said, “I like people who weren’t captured.”

While everyone has a right to their opinions and comments, Trump’s comment about McCain’s captivity and torture in Vietnam was truly disrespectful.

We must acknowledge McCain’s sacrifice he made through from all those years while being held captive was an act of courage.

It is easy to say that we love this great nation, but could we do something for this nation?

Through McCain’s actions we can all learn to move forward and try to make a difference.

His death was truly devastating but we can learn as a nation to also give back to the country.

We do not need to be in public office in order to demonstrate dedication and change but through our actions and helping to move through the right direction.

We need strong leaders and It is important to appreciate the people who truly dedicated themselves like senator McCain did throughout his political career.
